If you were only ever going to take one specialty, take this one. A diver with good buoyancy uses less air, tires less, does not kick the bottom apart, and sees more, because they are not trailing a cloud of silt.
We start with weighting — most divers finish an entry-level course carrying two or three kilos too many. Then trim: setting the body horizontal so the fins push you forward rather than upward. Finally breathing, which is how you start steering depth instead of reaching for the inflator.
