Ice diving is the one kind of recreational diving where you cannot surface whenever you choose — there is a ceiling above you. Everything therefore rests on the line and on the team that stays on top.
You learn to cut and secure the hole, to communicate by rope signal, to handle a regulator that freezes open, and to work in a dry suit in water close to zero.
We run this seasonally, in closed groups, and only when the ice has been checked.
